Food Revolution Day

Inspired by Jamie Oliver.

Ruma Ruru joined Jamie Oliver online and followed the steps to making a squash it sandwich. We grew our own cress, emailed local and international chefs/restaurants to find out what would go well with cress. We brought our own ingredients to school, made our own dressing and added it to our Squash-it-Sandwich. It was lots of fun and there was a lot of bashing of ingredients and noise!!!

We got Maccaroni out first and then Hulk. Then we walked over to the wash yard and cleaned the calves mum said get the sud soaps and a scrubbing brush. Then we went in the barn and brought some stuff in and we did the handler on Thursday. On Friday I went with mum and Jon outside and did some games. On Saturday me and hulk got 5th for leading, 6th for rearing and 1st for dairy type.

Toi Toi submissions

Here is a link to the Toi Toi website. A site for young writers to have the opportunity to submit their writing. If your writing is chosen it is then published in the Toi Toi journal. You will also receive a free copy of the journal with your published work.

For students who have an artistic flare there is also an opportunity to request to illustrate somebody else”s piece of writing.

Check out the website for more details or see me for more information. Te Pahu School was successful last year in having a student’s work chosen and published

Resting Heart Rate

In ruma ruru we have been learning about the human heart.
We have been monitoring our resting heart rates and keeping a log.
We are monitoring them because of cross country.
And we are using them to see if our heart rate is improving as we train for cross country.
